New Delhi/ Pakistan: Despite the sports rivalry between Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem, there is a strong bond of mutual respect and affection between them and their families. After both athletes secured a 1-2 finish in the Paris Olympics javelin throw final, social media celebrated their camaraderie. Neeraj’s mother, Saroj Chopra, referred to Arshad as “like her son,” expressing warmth towards him. In response, Arshad’s mother echoed similar sentiments, calling Neeraj her son’s friend and brother, and wishing him success in his career.
Arshad Nadeem made history by becoming the first Pakistani athlete to win a gold medal in an individual event, while Neeraj Chopra became the first Indian to win back-to-back Olympic medals in track and field. Both mothers emphasized that there is no difference between the athletes, and they are proud of both. The friendship between Neeraj and Arshad extends beyond the field, with Neeraj often supporting Arshad in his journey.
“He is also like my son. He is Nadeem’s friend and also his brother. Wins and losses are part of the sport. May god bless him, may he win medals. They are like brothers, I’ve prayed for Neeraj too,” Arshad’s mother said in an interview.
“I am thankful to entire Pakistan for the support they lent to Nadeem, the prayers they offered for my son.”
