Chennai: Tamil actor Vijay unveiled the flag and symbol of his newly formed political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in Chennai on Thursday. The flag features red and maroon colors at the top and bottom, with yellow in the center, depicting two elephants and a Vaagai flower, which symbolizes victory. Vijay emphasized that his party would follow a path of social justice.

Vijay announced the launch of TVK on February 2, 2024, expressing his dedication to bringing “fundamental political change” through a transparent, caste-free, and corruption-free administration. The party aims to contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The TVK did not participate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections or support any party in the Vikravandi Assembly bypoll, which was won by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in July.

Vijay’s party emerged after his fan club, Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, endorsed the formation of the new political entity in January. The significance of the party’s flag will be elaborated during a state-level conference planned for the near future.
