Republic TV CEO Vikas Khanchandani Arrested in Fake TV Ratings Scam by Mumbai Police

Mumbai: Vikas Khanchandani, CEO Republic TV has been arrested by the Mumbai Police in the fake ratings scam. The arrest of the topmost executive of republic TV came in less than a week following Supreme Court turned down a plea from Republic Media network, seeking protection for the group and its employees.

Earlier, Justice DY Chandrachud Judge Supreme Court told the Republic Media network “This petition is ambitious in nature. You want Maharashtra police not to arrest any employee and transfer the cases to CBI. You better withdraw this,”

 Republic Media network which had alleged the Maharashtra Police of “hounding” the media house, its Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami, and its employees.

The Mumbai Police on October 6 had filed a First Information Report and started investigations following a complaint filed by Nitin Deokar, an official of Hansa Research.

The Mumbai police investigation document names 140 witnesses, including forensic auditors and members of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), which assesses Television Rating Points (TRPs) by monitoring select households.
