Hyderabad: Even as doubt hangs over reopening of schools in the State, several private schools have already begun virtual classes, while some are planning to start soon. This is even when the State government is yet to issue any guidelines on online classes.
Hyderabad District Education Officer (DEO) Venkata Narasamma said that Education Department may release set of guidelines soon. “There are no directives yet from the State government on online classes. A decision will be taken by the Cabinet sub-committee,” Education Department officials said, adding that the State was waiting for guidelines from the Centre.
Meanwhile, under the cover of online classes, several schools are enforcing on parents to pay fee. In fact, some school managements, which are requiring that students wear uniforms for online classes, are also preventing students who have not paid their fee from accessing the online classes.
To access online classes, parents must arrange additional infrastructure for the children such as laptop or desktop, Wi-Fi or internet connection etc. which is very difficult for poor section of the society.
