New Delhi: Nine terrorists belong to Al-Qaeda have been arrested as the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted multiple raids in Kerala and West Bengal. The raids were conducted in West Bengal’s Murshidabad and Kerala’s Ernakulam.
The arrested group was planning to carry out attacks at important installations in India with the objective to kill innocent people and strike terror in their minds, says NIA.
Out of 9 arrested terrorists, 6 from Murshidabad, West-Bengal and 3 terrorists from Ernakulam, Kerala in the early morning raids reports.
Huge quantity of incriminating materials which includes digital devices, documents, jihadi literature, sharp weapons, country-made guns, a locally manufactured bullet-proof vest, articles, and literature used for making home-made explosive devices have been seized, says NIA.
As per initial investigation, these people were radicalized by Pakistan-based AlQaeda terrorists on social networks and were encouraged to carry out attacks at various locations including the national capital Delhi.
For this purpose, the module was actively indulging in fund raising and a few members of gang were planning to travel to New Delhi to procure arms and ammunition, NIA said.
