Hyderabad: Six policemen, including Detective Inspector Rami Reddy of Shadnagar police station, were suspended by Cyberabad Commissioner Avinash Mohanty for allegedly torturing a woman during a theft inquiry. The victim, Sujatha, claimed that on July 24, she was taken to the police station, where she was beaten with sticks and rubber belts in front of her minor son to force a confession. After she fell ill due to the torture, she was released. Commissioner Mohanty ordered an inquiry into the incident after it came to light.

Hyderabad: Dalit woman named Sunita from Ambedkar Colony in Shadnagar, Hyderabad, was allegedly tortured by police at the Shadnagar police station. The incident occurred during an investigation into a theft case involving 24 tolas of gold and Rs. 2 lakh cash, a complaint by a resident named Nagendra. Sunita, along with her husband Bheemaiah and their 13-year-old son, was taken to the police station. Bheemaiah was later released, but Sunita claims she was tied up, beaten with leather belts by male police officers, and tortured in front of her son to force a confession.
The police reportedly recovered one tola of gold and Rs. 4,000 from Sunita before releasing her. An inquiry into the incident has been ordered by DCP Shamshabad B Rajesh and is being conducted by ACP Shadnagar NCH Rangaswamy. Detective Inspector Rami Reddy of Shadnagar has been attached to the Cyberabad Police Headquarters pending the outcome of the investigation.
