22Y Arrested for Printing Fake Currency After PUBG Discussions, Fake Rs 3.42 lakh Seized

Ferozepur: A 22-year-old named Jaskaran Singh, also known as Rajan, was arrested by the Ferozepur police for printing and attempting to circulate fake Indian currency. Rajan, a resident of Basti Macchian in Zira town, got involved in this illegal activity after discussing it with a fellow PUBG user named Ajit, whose identity is still under investigation.

Rajan purchased a color printer and specific quality A4 paper to print the counterfeit notes. Over a span of around two months, he produced fake currency in denominations of Rs 500, Rs 200, and Rs 100, totaling Rs 3.42 lakh. The police seized the fake currency, including notes that were ready for circulation and others that were in various stages of production.

Rajan’s luck ran out when a failed attempt to pass off Rs 50,000 in fake currency among gamblers led to his arrest. His accomplice, Akashdeep Singh, was also arrested after being caught trying to circulate the fake notes.

Rajan had acquired the paper for printing from Ludhiana and purchased an HP Smart Tank 580 printer online. He experimented with various techniques, including attempting to add a security thread to the notes, but the recovered counterfeit notes lacked this feature. Rajan’s mother is a government school employee, and his father is deceased.

Both Rajan and Akashdeep have been placed in judicial custody as the investigation continues. The police are also probing the role of gambling in the case.
