Joe Biden nominated 20 Indian Americans, including 13 women, to key positions in his administration days before he takes over the top post. As many as 17 of them would be part of the White House complex.

Washington: Less than 3 days ahead of US President-elect Joe Biden historic inauguration, Biden had already nominated 20 Indian Americans, including 13 women, to key positions in his government. It is for the first time in the history that so many Indian-Americans have been nominated into a White house/presidential administration.

On January 20th inauguration, Joe Biden would be sworn in as the 46th President of the United States and Kamala Harris would be sworn as the vice president of the USA. Harris, 56, is also the daughter of Indian mother and African father.

 List of 20 Indian-American nominated by Joe Biden:

  1. Neera Tanden: She hasbeen nominated as Director of the White House Office of Management and Budget.
  2. Dr Vivek Murthy: He has been nominated as the US Surgeon General.
  3. Vanita Gupta: She has been nominated as Associate Attorney General Department of Justice.
  4. Uzra Zeya: She has been nominated under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights.
  5. Mala Adiga: She has been appointed as Policy Director to the future First Lady Dr Jill Biden.
  6. Garima Verma: She has been nominated asthe Digital Director of the Office of the First Lady.
  7. Sabrina Singh: Shehas been named as the First Lady’s Deputy Press Secretary.
  8. Aisha Shah: She has been named as Partnership Manager at the White House Office of Digital Strategy.
  9. Sameera Fazili: She would occupy the key position of Deputy Director at the US National Economic Council (NEC) in the White House.
  10. Bharat Ramamurti: He has been nominated as the Deputy director of theWhite House National Economic Council.
  11. Gautam Raghavan: He has been nominated as Deputy Director in Office of Presidential Personnel.
  12. Vinay Reddy: He has been named as Director of Speech writing.
  13. Vedant Patel: He has been nominated as Assistant Press Secretary to the President.
  14. Sonia Aggarwal: Shehas been named Senior Advisor for Climate Policy and Innovation in the Office of the Domestic Climate Policy at the White House.
  15. Vidur Sharma: He has been appointed as Policy Advisor for Testing for the White House Covid-19 Response Team.
  16. Tarun Chhabra–Senior Director for Technology and National Security.
  17. Sumona Guha, Senior Director for South Asia.
  18. Shanthi Kalathil: Coordinator for Democracy and Human Rights.
  19. Neha Gupta as Associate Counsel. and
