2 Newborns Abandoned on Pavements in 2 Different Cases, One Died Another Rescued in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Hyderabad: A newborn baby girl was found abandoned near the government maternity hospital at Koti in Hyderabad on 7 September.

Municipality workers who were clearing garbage near the hospital after hearing the child’s cries and rescued the baby. Police later took the baby to the maternity hospital for medical checkup. The baby was in good health and was shifted to the government-run Shishu Vihar in Yousufguda.

Meanwhile, one of the sanitation workers who rescued the child would like to adopt the child. She said in the past nine years of marriage, she still had no children. 

Sultan Bazar police after analyzing CCTV footage from the hospital and surrounding areas,

took into custody a woman Saraswathi (21), a native of Karnataka was staying with a relative in Esamia Bazar who allegedly abandoned her newborn baby girl on the pavement on Sunday night.

Police Sultan Bazar said, Saraswati gave birth to the baby girl three days ago at her house and later abandoned the infant on the pavement. who said her husband abandoned her about six months ago. She told police that she had a son aged eight years and had left the girl on the road as she thought she would not be able to take care of her.

A case is registered by the Sultan Bazar police for further investigation.

In a separate similar incident, a two-day-old baby boy was found dead on the pavement near MNJ Institute of Oncology & Regional Cancer Centre at Nampally. Police said the baby boy may have been abandoned on the pavement by the parents and had died. The place where the infant was found dead is close to Niloufer Hospital.

Nampally police are analyzing CCTV footage from the hospital and surrounding areas. A case was registered by the Nampally police and investigation is on.
