14 Killed in MiniBus Accident in Kurnool, Bus on Pilgrimage Tour to Ajmer

The people were crushed inside the MiniBus and the bodies had to be removed using machinery.

Andhra Pradesh: 14 persons, including a child, were killed as a Minibus and truck crashed on a national highway in Kurnool early this morning at 4 AM,

Only four children survived the accident but two of them are in serious condition. 

The deceased persons included eight women, five men and one child, all belonging to one family.

The MiniBus was on a pilgrimage tour to Ajmer in Rajasthan, and the accident happened in Veldurti Mandal of Kurnool District in AP, about 250 kilometers from Hyderabad.

According to sources, the speeding MiniBus, which was carrying 18 pilgrimage including children, first hit the road divider, and crashed with a with a lorry coming from the opposite direction.

The people were crushed inside the MiniBus and the bodies had to be removed using machinery.

AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed shock over the accident and conveyed his condolence to the family members. He instructed officials to expedite relief work and medical help.

Police are investigating if the driver was sleepy or if there was a tyre burst and the vehicle went out of control.
