12 Drown in 4 Rivers across Telangana during Weekend amid Deepawali Celebrations, Picnic, Etc.

Hyderabad: Deepavali celebrations went out to be terrible for several families across the Telangana State with at least 12 persons, mostly youngsters, drowned in rivers in separate incidents across Telangana in Mulugu, Sangareddy, Kamareddy and Nizamabad districts.

Godavari, a total of 16 people had gone to the Godavari riverbank and four youngsters of them had entered the waters for swimming and drowned. Bodies of two were fished out on Saturday evening itself, bodies of the other two were retrieved on Sunday morning.

Nizamabad, three girls in Bodhan accidentally fell into Ali Sagar project while they were taking selfies at the boating point of the project on Sunday evening. Two out of three girls were from Hyderabad city and they were visiting their relatives in Bodhan. The had gone to Ali Sagar Project on a picnic.

Sangareddy, bodies of 2 boys were found in the water body on Saturday and Sunday. They were feeding cattle, drowned in a check dam at Rejinthal village in Sangareddy district on Friday Police suspect they may have accidentally fallen into the water body.

Kamareddy, in two separate incidents, five people visited the Nizamsagar dam and two of them went near a flood gate to bathe. The two, both aged 19, slipped and fell into deep waters, a police official said. One body was retrieved on Saturday while another on Sunday morning, the official added. And a woman 45-year-old drowned in Nallavagu stream in Nizamsagar mandal on Sunday.
