Hyderabad: The Telangana government is examining three new criminal laws recently introduced by the NDA government at the Centre. Minister for Legislative Affairs D. Sridhar Babu announced in the Assembly on Friday that the Law Department is analyzing these laws.
“We are thoroughly examining and analyzing the new laws introduced by the Centre. Our Law Department is assessing their impact on civil liberties, freedom of expression, and various other issues to determine how they align with the state’s and people’s perspectives,” Sridhar Babu stated.
The new laws—Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA)—came into effect on July 1, replacing the Indian Penal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure, and the Indian Evidence Act, respectively.
Additionally, the state government has decided to allocate 100 acres of land within Greater Hyderabad for the construction of a new high court complex, with a budget of Rs 1,000 crore.
